Section 4.4 Scope of SET

Although the act of teaching, and therefore of its measurement, is generally accepted as being multidimensional (Jackson et al. 1999), exactly what should be included in SET instruments to measure or explore these dimensions has received less agreement.


Richardson (2005) queries whether student feedback be limited solely to curricular matters or it should also incorporate other issues that affect the wider student experience, such as computing, library, recreational or sporting facilities), and suggests that while important, the latter issues are not highly correlated with the quality of teaching and learning and should be explored in a separate exercise.
